Articulate Ink retail space launch!

We are so excited to announcing the opening of our first-ever retail space! Please join us in celebrating on Friday May 13th anytime after 5pm. We will have some new inventory including totes, tanks, onesies, notebooks and more along with some discounted older stock!

The retail space launch will also serve as our five year celebration as a part of the Creative City Centre's event the Five Alive! a 5th Anniversary Party!, which also includes the opening for a new exhibition of felted works calledThe Flower People by Melanie Monique Rose - Opening Reception. It is going to be a great night!

We have been tenants at the Creative City Centre since 2010, before the building even opened and renovations were still in progress. We started in one 250 square foot room five years ago on the third floor of the CCC and now we have just over 1000 square feet of studio and retail space on the second floor and "we've come along way baby!"

Articulate Ink would not exisit as it does today, five years later, without the continuted support of our home-base organization the Creative City Centreand Marian Donnelly. Please join us in celebrating half a decade of art and community!

We are five and alive! We will party into the wee hours, with music on both floors, screenings of the CCC's Empty Room videos, and open doors to all of the building's artist studio spaces (from 8 pm to 11 pm).

Come for a drink, come check out our new shop and come to say hello!

Caligari Workshop Series - Lino Cut Workshop - Deadline Extended!

Articulate Ink is pleased to announce the Caligari Workshop Series! Organized in the spirit of the upcoming Caligari Project, Articulate Ink will be facilitating a series of workshops exploring printmaking within the context of German Expressionism.

Printmaking was a favored medium among German Expressionists, who used the process to distribute powerful utopian messages to the masses on leaflets, portfolios, posters, and manifestos. The works confronted religious, moral, social, and political matters with an energy and immediacy not possible through other mediums. The urgency of the issues is visible in the artists' handling of the medium who used distorted and exaggerated forms in a way that was unique amongst other prints of that era. This aggressive and striking approach became the hallmark of the German Expressionist artist.

Articulate Ink will be offering two workshops through this series, in April and September 2016 (sign up for our e-newsletter to be notified when registration opens for the woodcut workshop in September!). These classes will focus on giving participants a thorough understanding of the processes for hand-carving and printing images. While instructors will assist with image development as needed, there will also be a selection of German Expressionst-esque images available for enrollees to choose from.

Participants of all skill levels are welcome, but as the processes involve handling sharp carving tools we have set an 14+ age limit.

Did you know that Articulate Ink is organizing a print exchange in connection with the Caligari Project as well? Follow this link for more information on how your prints could be a part of an exhibition this fall!
